Peleș Castle — Visitor FAQ

Plan your visit to Peleș Castle in Sinaia with answers about updated information for 2026, including opening hours, Pelișor Castle, photography, and more information.

Tickets and advance booking

Do I need to book in advance to visit Peleș Castle?

Booking ahead is strongly recommended, particularly in the summer season and holidays. Entry runs on timed slots with a daily visitor cap of 2,000. Mornings, weekends and the summer season are often sold out in advance. There is no traditional ticket office at the castle, although there are ticket machines for visitors. Booking online before you arrive is the surest way to secure the time you want.

How does the timed entry work?

Please choose a time range when you buy your ticket. The first time slot on Thursday to Sunday, for example, is 09:15 to 11:00, followed by 11:00 to 12:45, 12:45 to 14:30 and 14:30 to 16:00. Please enter during your selected slot, on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are valid only on the day of the visit and are non-refundable, so please plan your day around your chosen slot.

What does a ticket include?

A standard Peleș Castle ticket covers the ground floor and first floor. Entry to the castle grounds is free. The older system of main-floor-only tickets no longer applies.

Can I visit Peleș and Pelișor Castle on the same day?

Yes. Pelișor Castle sits a short walk away on the same royal estate and is easy to combine with Peleș Castle in one visit; allow around 3 hours for both. Pelișor requires its own ticket, which you can buy separately or together as your Peleș ticket. Because both castles run on timed slots, we recommend booking Peleș first and Pelișor for a later slot, leaving yourself time to walk between the two.

Opening hours and closures

What are the opening hours?

Peleș Castle is open Wednesday from 10:00 to 17:00, and Thursday to Sunday from 09:15 to 17:00. Last entry is at 16:00. Pelișor Castle keeps the same days and hours, with last entry at 16:15. Hours can occasionally change on public holidays, so please check before travelling.

What days of the week is Peleș Castle closed?

Peleș Castle is closed every Monday and Tuesday.

Photography and tours

Is there still a photography fee?

No. The amateur photography fee has been removed. Interior photography without flash is now permitted free of charge, for personal use only. Flash and tripods are not allowed, and photographs may not be published or used commercially without prior written consent. Professional or commercial photography and filming are charged separately per hour; please contact us by email to arrange this.

Are there guided tours, and in what languages?

Yes. Guided tours in Romanian and English are offered at no extra charge, organised at the entrance in order of arrival and at scheduled times through the day. English-language tours of Peleș Castle run roughly hourly — on Wednesdays from about 10:30 to 15:30, and Thursday to Sunday from about 09:45 to 15:15. You may also visit at your own pace as a self-guided visitor. An audio guide is also offered; for current languages and any fee, please check the official site.

Children, accessibility and visitor rules

Can children visit for free?

Children under 7 are admitted free of charge. Children and young people aged 7 to 17 pay the reduced pupil or student rate.

Is Peleș Castle accessible for visitors with reduced mobility?

Access is limited by the castle's historic, multi-level design. The ground-floor state rooms are partially accessible, but the upper floor is reached by stairs and there is no lift for visitors. Visitors with a disability card and one companion receive free or reduced entry. If you have specific accessibility questions, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to help.

Getting there and best time to visit

How do I get to Peleș Castle from Bucharest?

The simplest way is the train from Bucharest Gara de Nord to Sinaia, which takes roughly 90 minutes to two hours. From Sinaia station it is about a 20-minute uphill walk through the town to the castle, or a short taxi ride. By car, take the DN1 toward Brașov and exit at Sinaia. Parking near the castle is limited and paid, so allow extra time in peak season.

When is the best time to visit to avoid the crowds?

Peleș Castle is one of Romania's most visited monuments, and it is most enjoyable when it is quiet. Weekdays outside the summer holidays are calmest. A good approach is to arrive early in the day — a Thursday or Friday morning, ahead of the coach tours — or later in the afternoon once the larger groups have moved on.
